GreenScore Canada Ltd.
Ecological awareness can become as simple as checking a footprint score before making decisions about where to live or what products to buy. The collective impact of "seeing footprint scores and then making wise choices" can transform our economy. Our role is to develop technologies that give people the knowledge and power to transform their lives with ecological awareness.
GreenScore City Index
Currently, this ongoing empirical study is operational in 50 Canadian cities. Cities are ground zero for climate change mitigation because cities are where the majority of humans live. This is why our mission starts with scoring cities. Once most of the cities studied are acclimatized to the index and the data stakeholders proactively participate in data maintenance, we will be in a position to add other countries to the index.
GreenScore Product Index
In the future eco-scores will exist for consumer product. Checking a products eco-score before buying it could be as simple as tapping your smartphone on a product label. The collective impact of buying products with smaller ecological footprints could profoundly change the way our economy works. We are researching ways for smartphone apps to display comprehensive eco-scores. Our goal is to create a shopping experience that motivates people to become ecologically aware before buying goods.
GreenScore Lifestyle Index
If your past spending habits helped create the climate crisis, then maybe your future spending habits could help undo it. Studies clearly show that our collective poor ecological spending habits lead to the current climate crisis and the root cause of this is our collective unsustainable lifestyles. Research has demonstrated that friendly persistent coaching can transform our habits quickly. Our goal is to create green scoring systems for local communities, businesses and NGO's to use. This would give people the ability to see how green their lifestyles are.
The Riddle of Conflict
Civilization is globally interconnected and that requires global thinking. Many leaders in the UN are trying to creating harmony. The problem is, many UN representatives have become trapped in a culture of national interests. From a distance it is easy to see, however, when you're in it's presence "self interested culture" is overpowering. All levels of government and business can suffer from this too. At a much deeper level one can see that self-interest shows up everywhere conflict exists. Could it be that solving the riddle of self-interest solves the riddle of conflict? Could it be that self-interest creates conflict? Becoming aware of its cultural effects, is the first step towards becoming immune to it. Like anything else awareness takes practice. You can start becoming immune right now! Simply declare "I work for the planet", then every morning when you wake up, declare out loud "I work for the planet". Continue your day normally and soon you will start feeling more connected. This will awaken a planetary awareness inside you that is powerful enough to transform your outlook on life.
I included the riddle of conflict because conflict has held us back for thousands of years. Every other species that colonizes works together unconsciously. It is clear that self-interested consciousness has and still is sabotaging us. Each one of us has the duty to see the common good and it should never be delegated. We can work for the planet, keep our jobs, build awareness and feel good about life. I encourage you to make the choice and start working for the planet.
